Godfrey Fire Department With The Help Of Fosterburg And Brighton Battle Structure Fire Friday Morning

GODFREY – Godfrey Fire Department along with Fosterburg and Brighton responded to a structure fire in the 600 block of Chelsea Court Friday morning. When firefighters arrived on scene smoke was showing from under a closed door.

” The homeowner left for work but realized he had forgot something and came back home, when he came inside, he saw smoke and closed the door quickly to that room, five or ten more minutes later we would have a lot bigger fire on our hands and if he hadn’t shut the door, it would have been worse.” Godfrey Fire Chief Eric Cranmer said

The fire was contained to one room but there was smoke and water damage in the rest of the house. No injuries were reported. Cranmer said it is unknown at this time how the fire started.
