Donald H. Braeutigam, age 88 of Collinsville, IL, born July 17, 1933, in Belleville, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Belleville Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
Donald was a retired Chief Plant Engineer. He had worked many years at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, and St. Joseph Hospital of Kirkwood in Kirkwood, MO. In his earlier years, he worked at McDonnell Douglas. He was a Navy veteran, of the Lutheran faith, and liked to paint art, build model ships, boating and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Irene (nee Juenger) Braeutigam.
He is survived by his three children: Tami (Craig) Wright of Collinsville, Lori (Skip) Doty of Caseyville, and Jeff (Diane) Braeutigam of Collinsville; six grandchildren: Michelle Doty, Eric (Stephanie) Doty, Matthew Wright, Bobby (Brin Baitman) Braeutigam, Samantha (Mike) Vandaveer, and Brenden (Jennifer German) Wright; five great-grandchildren: Dylan, Noah, Bradin, Addisyn, and Nolan.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL.
Funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Rev. Kyle Wright officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
Memorials may be made in Donald’s honor to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to the funeral home at 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
