Wood River Fire Department With The Help From Other Departments Responded To A Structure Fire Tuesday Night

WOOD RIVER – Wood River Fire Department responded to the 400 block of North Sixth Street just after 10:30 p.m. for a structure fire Tuesday night.

When firefighters arrived on scene smoke was coming from the house. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly. The fire was contained to one room in the house, but the rest of the house sustained smoke damage.

Wood River Fire Department requested a box- alarm which Roxana, East Alton, and Edwardsville Fire Department responded to the scene. Wood River canceled Edwardsville due to getting the fire under control quickly. Alton Memorial Ambulance responded for standby but was not needed.

Wood River Police Department helped with traffic control. No injuries were reported, and it is unknown at this time what caused the fire.
