Marquette Catholic And Southwestern Girls Misses Finals In Charleston But Still Happy To Be Here

CHARLESTON – Marquette Catholic was able to qualify three girls with one doing two events and one relay team to the Girls State Track Meet in Charleston but they came up just short to advance to the finals on Saturday. Southwestern sent two girls to the meet and both came up short to qualify also.

In the long jump, Marquette’s Sammy Hentrich had a jump of 4.76 meters and placed 25th. The top twelve qualified. In the 200-meter race, Hentrich placed 17th and the top 9 moved on she had a time of 27.59. In the 800-meter race, Kailey Vickrey of Marquette ran a time of 2:41.78 and placed 26th. In the 1600-meter Katie Johnson of Marquette placed 24th with a time of 6:06.09. In the 4×800 Marquette ran a time of 10:56.03 and placed 21st.

The two from Southwestern High School Pole Vaulter Emily Lowis and Triple Jumper AmyDee Buchman, both came up short to advance. Lowis cleared a height of 2.75 and tied for 25th while Buchman jumped 9.05 meters and placed 27th.
