Alton’s Renee Raglin Advances To The Class 3A Girls State Track Meet Finals In The 100-Meter

CHARLESTON – Renee Raglin of Alton placed second in her heat behind Alexandria Edison of Flossmoor (Homewood-F.) but her time was good enough to get her into the finals in Charleston on Saturday. Raglin ran an 11.81 in the prelims.

In the 100-meter hurdles teammates Macee Rivers and Janaysia Byrd of Belleville West both qualified for the finals on Saturday. Rivers won her heat with a time of 14.29 while Byrd placed second in her heat but her time was good enough to get into the finals. Byrd had a time of 14.19.

Belleville West had a time of 49.04 in the 4×100 and it was good enough to advance to Saturday. In the 4×200 Belleville East also punched their ticket to the finals with a 1:43.03.

In the 1600-meter race, O’fallons Peyton Schieppe ran a 5:02.45 and will come into the finals in a good position for a medal. Schieppe comes in seeded at fourth out of twelve runners.

Edwardsville’s 4×800 who had an amazing year just couldn’t get into the finals they came in with a time of 9:36 from the sectional but they finished with a time of 10:03.21 to finish at state.

In the Discus Edwardsville’s Kaitlyn Morningstar and Gabby Saye both punched their tickets to the finals. Morningstar had a throw of 39.11 meters and placed fifth in the prelims while Saye had a throw of 33.67 and was the final entree with a twelfth place finish for Saturday.
