Multiple Area Girls Advances To The Class 2A Girls State Track Finals On Saturday

CHARLESTON – Five area girls were able to make it to the finals in the Class 2A Girls State Track Meet in Charleston. The finals will be on Saturday.

Highland’s Josie Hapack advanced to the finals in the Shot Put with a throw of 12.49 meters, Hapack placed fourth in the prelims. In the Long Jump, East St. Louis’s Janiyah Brown had a jump of 5.21 meters to advance to Saturday. In the Dicus two area girls advanced, East St. Louis Desire Poole had a throw of 39.46 meters and Highlands Josie Hapack had a throw of 38.95 meters.

Morgan Noyes of Triad had a pole vault of 3.05 meters and that vault was good enough to advance to the finals. and in the only race of the day, Hannah Meiser of CM advanced with a time of 5:16.83 to make the top 12 to advance to Saturday.

For Roxana’s Riley Doyle her time came up short in the 1600-meter race to advance to Saturday. In the 4×200 East St. Louis and Triad came up short to make it to the finals. East St. Louis had a time of 1:47.64 and Triad had a time of 10:27.43.

In the 4×800 Highland and Triad battled to advance but they could not get in and came up just short. Highland had a time of 10:29.97 while Triad had a time of 10:27.43. In the 4×100 East St. Louis ran an amazing race but came up just short to advance to Saturday with a time of 50.37.

And in the High Jump Triad, Lilly Cawvey came up one sport behind the last qualifier to not advance to the finals. She had a jump of 1.47 meters.
