Norma Jean Hartlieb, age 76 of Highland, IL, died Friday, June 10, 2022, at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in O Fallon, IL.
She was born on Friday, March 29, 1946, in Highland, IL. She married Duane E. Hartlieb on January 30, 1965, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel, Illinois. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Highland, IL; Silver Creek Camping Association. Born in Highland, IL, attended school at Alhambra Grade School and graduated from Highland High School in 1963. She worked at Scott Air Force Base, Alton Box Board, Kayser Drug Store, and Ben Franklin 5 & 10. Then she raised her children and later worked at SIU-E, in the administrative office and retired in 2008. She loved gardening, canning, camping with family at lakes and campgrounds, her children and grandchildren sporting events, golfing and watching TV especially “Gunsmoke”. She enjoyed the outdoors, swimming and wanted to retire to Kentucky Lake.
Survivors include: daughters Robin S. (Tim) Bateman, Glen Carbon, IL, and Wendy L. (Jim) Lentz, Highland, IL, and son Darin D. (Aimi) Hartlieb, Edwardsville, IL; grandchildren Lucy A. Bateman, Libby J. Bateman, Eli T. Bateman, Alexa A. Hartlieb, Tess N. Wilson, Abel J. Lentz, and Dyna L. Lentz, sister-in-laws Lois M. Sander, Hamel, IL, Diann M. Mettler, Aurora, KY, Phyllis J. (Ron) Sandlin, Highland, IL, and Judy A. Hartlieb, Highland, IL.
She was preceded in death by: father and mother-Herbert H. and Olinda M. (nee Meyer) Sander; husband Duane E. Hartlieb, sister Marilyn O. Mangum, brother Marvin H. Sander; brother-in-laws Gary L. Mangum, Dale A. Mettler, Burnell L. “Barney” Hartlieb, and Jerry R. Hartlieb.
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Hope Lutheran Church in Highland, IL. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Hope Lutheran Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Scott Busacker, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Hamel, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Animal Shelter or Hope Lutheran Church.
