Edward Maedge

Edward John Maedge, age 88 of Troy, IL, born August 18, 1933, in Troy, IL, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022, at his residence.

Edward retired from Granite City Steel after 30+ years of service.  He was a Navy Veteran, a member of Friedens Church in Troy, American Bowling Congress, and American Legion Post #708 in Troy.  He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Augusta (nee Hoenig) Maedge; wife, Carol Lee (nee Waghorn) Maedge; an infant sister, Dorothy Maedge; a sister, Frieda Kuhn; and a brother, Charles Maedge.

Ed, with all his love, leaves behind his three children: Marilyn (Van) Toliver of Bainbridge, GA, Bonnie (Russell) Talbott, of Troy, IL, and Richard (Jennifer) Maedge of Troy, IL. Ed was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Ava Jo Toliver, Janice (Anthony) Nilson, Savannah (Cole) Bulger, Ashlynn, and William Talbott, Amber, Austin, and Zachary Maedge; 10 great-grandchildren: Krystal, Kassidy, Alakaid, Alice, Alexander, Jaxson, Madison, Emma, Ryder, and Holly; four sisters:  Ruby Schultze, Janet Maedge, Ruth Ann (Bob) Ostendorf and Clara Lang; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Harrison officiating.  Burial will be in Frieden’s Cemetery, Troy, IL.

Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
