Michael Richard Crouthers,73, of Highland, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday,
September 21, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. He was the son of Omer “Roy” Crouthers and Helen
Lucille (Dockins) Crouthers preceded him in death.
Michael was born on September 28, 1948, in Sikeston, MO. He attended Chaffee High
School, but graduated from Roxana High School in 1966 where he excelled in football. After High
School, Michael joined IBEW Local 649 Electricians Union where he worked for 45 years as a Lineman and Wireman.
Michael had a passion for classic cars and found success in drag racing in his younger years. He loved country music, dancing, and Evia’s cooking. Michael loved the outdoors. He loved to fish and made some of his most fond memories on Rend Lake, the Illinois River, Litchfield Lake, and every lake and pond in-between with his children, grandchildren, his very good friends, and his partner, “Potna!”, Evia. Michael also loved to hunt. The Fall and Winters were often spent with his closest friends in a duck blind in Batchtown, IL, or a goose pit in Olive Branch, IL, or Canton, IL. Michael loved his garden where he grew tomatoes and other vegetables and loved sharing his harvest with neighbors, friends, and family. Michael made friends easily. If you were fortunate enough to make friends with Michael, you were a lifelong friend and could always count on him. He was loyal and generous with his time, humor, and help
when needed. He had a great sense of humor. He always had a joke to share, and was a captivating storyteller, he made people laugh and put them at ease.
He was the biggest fan of his grandchildren. He rarely missed a game and felt infinite joy watching them compete and excel in their passions. He was a great PawPaw and this title brought him so much happiness.
Michael is survived by his most loving partner Evia Entrikin; children Kelly (Jeff) Land, Douglas (Dale Goetzke) Crouthers, and David (Jamie) Crouthers and step-daughter Kayla Entrikin; his sisters, Barb Underwood, Sharon (Tom) Willie, and Jeanne Crouthers (Abert); grandchildren Cami Vassar, Caylin Sanders-Bick, Allyson Jones, Brietta Crouthers, Grayson Michael Crouthers, Nolan Crouthers, and Kamden Crouthers; and 6 great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, and nephews who were dear to him.
