Names Released After CVPA High School Shooting

ST LOUIS – A teacher and a student lost their lives, and seven others were injured in a school shooting at the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in St. Louis Monday morning.

According to family the teacher was identified as Jean Kirk Kuczka, 61. Kuczka was a 1979 graduate of Lindbergh High School and then attended Southwest Missouri State University. She taught at Seven Holy Founders in Affton, Missouri before moving to the St. Louis Public School District in 2002, where she taught at Carr Lane before moving to the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in 2008 according to her bio on the website.

The student was identified as Alexandria Bell. She would have turned 16 on November 18th according to her family.

The shooter was identified as 19-year-old Orlando Harris, Harris and police exchanged gunfire on the third floor. Harris was killed in the shootout by police. Harris graduated from the school last year.

Police released the timeline from the time the call was received to when the suspect was down. The call came in at 9:11 a.m. and officers arrived on the scene four minutes later. At 9:23 a.m. officers engaged with the suspect, then two minutes later the suspect was reportedly downed. At 9:32 a.m. officers said the suspect was secured. At 9:52 a.m. the building was cleared.

Several Missouri lawmakers tweeted after the shooting.
