Wood River Fire Department Requests Box-Alarm For Structure Fire Saturday Morning

WOOD RIVER – Wood River Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 200 block of South 7th Street just before 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found smoke coming from the house. The firefighters located the fire in the basement of the house. The home sustained substantial smoke damage. The Red Cross was requested to help the family.

Due to the active fire the Wood River Fire Department requested a Box-Alarm which brought East Alton, Roxana, Edwardsville and Rosewood Heights Fire Departments to the scene. Alton Memorial Ambulance was on standby at the scene.

It is unknown at this time if anyone was injured or how the fire started.
