East Alton Man Opens His Home For The Homeless

EAST ALTON – East Alton resident Woodrow Peterson has gone above and beyond Thursday to help the homeless.

Peterson has a passion for keeping an eye on the homeless in East Alton. Peterson has earned their trust and is trying to help them stay warm and safe. The wind chill tonight is -24 degrees.

Today Woodrow opened his home to some homeless East Alton residents. Woodrow has a greenhouse that he uses closer to the spring, but today and tonight he turned it into a shelter for them so they can stay warm all night. The greenhouse is around 80 degrees.

As of 8:00 p.m., Woodrow has 4 homeless residents in his greenhouse with possibly 10 more will be there later. East Alton residents have been reaching out with supplies, pizza, soda, gloves, hats, socks, and hygiene products. They are also sending him money through Paypal for breakfast in the morning for the homeless.

Peterson’s mission is to help the homeless stay warm.
