Robert Joseph Laub, 88, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 1:12 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Granite Nursing and Rehab in Granite City. He was born April 8, 1934, in Granite City, a son of the late Joseph Charles and Josephine (Bridick) Laub. Robert had worked as an accounting clerk in the steel industry. He was a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City and a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1098 in Granite City for over 50 years.
The United States Army veteran proudly served his country from 1956 until 1958 and continued for four years in the Army Reserves. Robert was a loving uncle who enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Arlene J. Laub of Florida; nephews and spouses, William E. and Jena Laub of Granite City, Steven A. and Cathy Laub of Granite City and Matthew A. and Linda Laub of Lebanon; great nieces and great nephews, Brittney and Sean Barnes, Kelli and Ian Wheat, Kimberly Laub, Lauren Laub, Mitchell Laub, Stuart Laub and Logan Barnes; other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Edward C. Laub.
In celebration of his life, a Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2606 Washington Avenue in Granite City on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Steve Thompson as celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials may be made as Masses or to the Memorial Fund at Holy Family Catholic Church.
