BETHALTO – The Civic Memorial boys basketball team played 3rd ranked in class 3A Columbia according to MaxPreps at home where they were defeated 73 to 49.
Civic Memorial came out shooting and was able to jump out to a 16 to 10 lead going into the 2nd quarter. Columbia stayed with CM in the second quarter and took a 26 to 23 lead going into the locker room.
Columbia came out of the locker room at halftime and was able to extend the lead to 48 to 36 going into the final quarter. In the final quarter Columbia outscored Civic Memorial 25 to 13 to close out the game.
Civic Memorial honored Senior Sam Buckley before the game after he reached the 1000-point club last week.
Buckley led CM with 21 points while Adam Ogden had 12 points.
Columbia was led by Jack Steckler with 22 points and Brody Landgraf with 20 points.
