EAST ALTON – East Alton kicked off its second annual farmers market on Tuesday.
Last year East Alton was added to the list of communities that have farmers markets. Woodrow Peterson was the catalyst to get things moving and to bring it to East Alton. Alton, Bethalto and Wood River all have farmer’s market.
On Tuesday around 20 vendors showed up on the opening day of the farmers market, which is located at the East Gate Plaza in East Alton. The first hour of the market several people had walked through the area and looked at all the vendors.
Some of the products being sold were barbecue sauce, locally sourced honey, baked goods, and flowers. As the farmers market continues, produce and other goods will be sold.
The market is located at East Gate Plaza and will be held every Tuesday 3 -7pm through the fall.
