COLLINSVILLE – On Monday, April 24th, 2023, Collinsville Police Department responded to the 200 block of North Seminary for shots fired at around 7:00 p.m. When officers arrived on scene, they found one individual on the sidewalk who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Collinsville Fire Department responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced deceased on scene by the Madison County Coroner’s Office.
Witnesses reported seeing four individuals fleeing on foot and provided a general description. Officers immediately canvassed the area and located three individuals matching the descriptions in the vicinity, and after a brief foot pursuit, they were captured and are currently in custody. At this time police believe the fourth suspect may still be at large.
The identity of the victim is being withheld until next of kin has been notified.
