Margery Bryer

Margery L. Bryer, age 91 of Lebanon, IL, died Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.

She was born on Sunday, September 6, 1931, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Socrates and May (nee Houghton) Schantz.

On Thursday, July 13, 1950, she married Robert C. Bryer at Granite City, IL, who passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2005.

She was a member of United Church of Christ of Marine.

Margery was born in St. Louis, MO. She attended Beaumont High School. Her first job was a cake decorator, at the age of 9. Later she sold tickets at Chain of Rock Amusement Park for 9 cents. She and her husband moved to Marine in the 1950’s. They owned and operated American Banner Amusement from 1969 to 1986, which was carnival rides and concessions. She enjoyed watching game shows, especially “The Nanny Price Is Right”; St. Louis Cardinal Baseball and playing bingo.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Marine, IL and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at United Church of Christ of Marine in Marine, IL.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at United Church of Christ of Marine in Marine, IL, with Rev. Phillip H. Kershner, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be at Marine Cemetery in Marine, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
