CHARLESTON – It was a great day for the Father McGivney Lady Griffins of Glen Carbon they advance six to the Class 1A Girls state finals on Saturday.
In the field events high jumper Mia Range met the qualifying jump with a 1.55 to advance to Saturday. It was also a good day for the Griffins in the relays they advanced all the relay teams to the finals. The 4×800 and the 4×400.
In the 4×800 they finished 2nd out of the heats with a time of 9:51. The team is made up of Kaitlyn Hatley, Lilly Gilbertson, Jane Cummins, and Elena Rybak and in the 4×400 they finished fifth out of all the heats with a time of 4:05. That relay had Gilbertson,Hatley, Caroline Rakers, and Rybak.
They also had an outstanding day in the individuals. In the 800 meters, Kaitlyn Hatley finished 8th out of all 31 to advance to the finals with a time of 2:21. Rybak finished 6th to advance with a time of 5:12 in the 1600 meter. Cummins did not make the cut in the 1600 she finished 22nd with a time of 5:32 but she will still make the finals in the 4×800.
Gilbertson advanced in the 400 meter with a time of 7.96.
