Multiple Fire Departments Battle Church Fire Saturday Afternoon

GLEN CARBON – The Glen Carbon Fire Department responded to the Shiloh Christian Church in the 100 block of Sunset Ave for a structure fire Saturday afternoon.

The caller said heavy black smoke was coming from the church. Firefighters from Glen Carbon responded quickly to the scene and as they were arriving, they noticed black smoke coming from the church. The church is just around the corner from the fire station.

Glen Carbon requested help due to the fire and the hot weather from Maryville, Troy, Edwardsville, and Collinsville Fire Departments. Glen Carbon put the aerial truck up just in case they needed it. Madsion County Emergency Management provided water for the firemen.

No injuries were reported, and nobody was inside the church when the fire broke out. It is unknown at this time how the fire started.
