GRANITE CITY – The Granite City Police Department and Fire Department responded to a fatal traffic crash Tuesday evening in the 3500 block of Nameoki Road. One person did lose their lost their life in the accident.
When first responders arrived on scene, they encountered two vehicles with heavy damage. Bystanders told Metro East Star that the driver of one of the vehicles fled on foot. Other bystanders were able to catch the driver and hold them till police arrived.

Major Nick Novacich Assistant Police Chief confirmed one person is in custody and its an ongoing investigation.
