GRANITE CITY – Granite City Fire Department responded to Dale Ave and St. Clair Ave for a house that exploded at around 2:45 a.m. Monday.
When firefighters arrived the house was totally destroyed by the explosion. Nobody was home at the time of the explosion, the homeowner was at work at the time of the incident.

Nearby homes were also damaged by the explosion. Fire officials, ATF, and Illinois State Fire Marshal are investigating the explosion. As of now, it appears it was caused by natural gas.
No injuries were reported.
