EDWARDSVILLE – Hunter Heck a senior at the University of Illinois drove from Champaign Illinois to Edwardsville to compete and try and defend his title from last year at the Edwardsville Open Tennis tournament. Heck was the number-one seed this year.
The winner of this tournament would advance as a wildcard into the main draw of the Edwardsville Futures Tournament in July in Edwardsville. Heck won this tournament last year. On Sunday he did it again when he beat Henry Ruger of Pennsylvania 6-3, 2-6, 10-8.
Heck beat John Black 6-0, 6-0, He then beat Erik Weiler 6-2, 6-1 then he moved on to face Muriel and advanced with a 6-1, 6-3 win. In the semi-finals, he faced Reid Jarvis and beat him 6-2, 6-3 before win in the finals.
