Melvin John Heien, Jr., age 74 of Highland, IL, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at his residence.
Melvin was born on February 21, 1949 in Highland, IL to the late Melvin John Sr. and Marie (nee Snodgrass) Heien. He honorably served in the United States Army, and was a retired physical education teacher. He enjoyed playing euchre, golf, and spent many years coaching baseball, basketball and golf for Collinsville Community School District 10.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Carroll.
He is survived by his wife, Judith (nee Quitmeyer) Heien, whom he married August 14, 1987; two daughters: Tonya Ketten and Melanie Jones; four grandchildren: Ashley Iberg, Peyton Jones, Riley Jones, and Charlotte Jones; and three sisters: Jo Ann Heien, Patti Schaake and Debbie Thompson.
