BELLVILLE – Two people have been taken into custody and charged in the murder of 10-year-old Brandon Scott.
On July 3, 2023, around 9:56 P.M. St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the 1800 block of Roosevelt Ave. Belleville Illinois in reference to a shooting. Deputies located Scott, inside the residence with a gunshot wound. Scott was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
St Clair County Sheriff’s Department requested assistance from the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis. Twenty-four investigators were activated. The Major Case Squad has investigated approximately 50 leads.
On Friday, July 7, 2023, the St. Clair County States Attorneys Office filed the following charges in reference to the investigation.
Jaylen P. Nicks, 26 years old of Florissant Mo with 1st-degree murder with a bond of 1,000,000
The second person is identified as Devin M. Dunbar,20 years old of Spanish Lake Mo. His bond is 1,250,000.
