Daniel “Dan” James Meyer, age 74, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. Dan was born on February 15, 1949 in Michigan, a son of the late Alfred and Grace (Witmore) Meyer.
Dan will be remembered as a loving father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and a dear friend to many. He was an outdoorsman who loved going fishing. Dan also enjoyed tinkering in his garage, and he could fix or build anything he puts his mind to. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dan will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by Judy Meyer, the love of his life.
He is survived by his loving children, Jeff (Rosa) Meyer of Carlinville, IL, Doug (Janet) Meyer of Montgomery City, MO, Jason (Abbey) Meyer of Granite City, IL, Jennifer (Katie) Meyer of Columbia, IL and Anna Meyer of Alton, IL; dear siblings, Pam (Mike) Schommer and Peggy (Donald) Buettikoffer, both of Pocahontas, IL; proud grandfather to Ashley, Kaitlyn, Brenden, Megan, Brooke, Kinsley, Finn, Sadie and Kayla; proud great-grandfather to Jayce, Lucas, Jaxon, Eaden and Rose; nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Dan’s wishes were to be cremated and to have no formal services.
