ALTON – Alton Fire Department responded to the 2300 block of Sunset Ave Wednesday night for a structure fire.
When firefighters arrived on the scene they had heavy smoke and fire coming from the house. Firefighters took a defensive attack due to the house being on the condemn list and being unsafe to go inside. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly.

The house was vacant but it is unknown if anyone was inside. Alton Fire Department requested the Illinois State Fire Marshal to help with the investigation.
