Allen L. Porter, age 91 of Highland, IL, died Friday, October 13, 2023, at his home, Highland, IL.
He was born on Saturday, September 17, 1932, in Oakdale, IL, the son of Richard and Lillie (nee Schaffer) Porter.
On Saturday, September 15, 1956, he married Velma J. Porter nee Coonley at Pinckneyville, IL, who survives.
Allen was born at Oakdale, IL; following his marriage they lived in Nashville, IL and moved to Highland, IL, in 1969. He had served in the US Army with two years in Korea and over 20 years in the reserves. He retired from the reserves as a MSgt. Allen had worked for the railroad, as an Ass’t Manager for Farm Service in Nashville and began driving a truck for Central Cartridge. He retired from A & R trucking after 30 years of service. He also farmed with his brothers. Allen enjoyed travelling and going to AZ for the winters. He collected antiques, liked fishing and always had time for horses. When he was younger Allen played Fast-pitch softball. He still maintained his home farm land and kept the lake looking like a park. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren and their sports events. He was a Cardinals Baseball fan. He and Jean enjoyed playing cards and going to dances.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL, with Rev. William Kapp, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.
