Eileen R. “Rosie” Korte, age 92 of Highland, IL, died Monday, October 16, 2023, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL.
She was born on Saturday, April 18, 1931, in Pierron, IL, the daughter of Wallace and Irene (nee Jakel) Gibbs.
She was a member of Woodmen of the World, Highland Camp #105; Auxiliary to V.F.W. Post #5694; and Auxiliary to American Legion Lee Iten Post #439.
Eileen was born in Pierron, IL. Her family moved to Marine, IL when she was 9 years old. As a young girl, she had worked at the Highland Clock factory. After her second marriage, she moved to St. Jacob, IL. She worked at many local restaurants and at Highland Manor Nursing Home in the kitchen. She and her husband worked at Korte Construction for many years. Rosie taught Sunday School for many years at the E & R Church in Highland, IL. She enjoyed scrapbooking, working puzzles, creative writing and she collected antique blue glass dinnerware.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Private Graveside Service will be at 12:00 PM on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL, with Rev. William E. Kapp, pastor, Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL, officiating.
Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.
