Tommy Cheung

Tommy Ho Cheung, 78, of Madison, Illinois, passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at his home.  He was born October 2, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Ho and Sneove (Brown) Cheung.  He married Linda J. (Lindsey) Cheung on November 23, 1968, in St. Louis and she passed away on April 17, 2008.  The United States Navy veteran proudly served his country on the USS Magoffin during the Vietnam War.  He began a career with Terminal Railroad Association in 1966 and retired in 2006 as a yardmaster.  He then worked as a cook for over 15 years at Scott Air Force Base until his retirement.  Tommy enjoyed playing bingo and loved his trips to the casino.  He is survived by a daughter, Leanette Pryor of Loganville, Georgia; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Shawna Cheung of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; two granddaughters, Sarrah Cheung and Kelsey Mueller; two great granddaughters, Heaven Cheung and Olivia Cheung; three brothers, Richard Cheung, Johnny Cheung and William Cheung; several nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Smitt and two brothers, Sammy Cheung and Dewey “Lee” Cheung.  Cremation rites will be accorded and no formal services to be held.  Memorials may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.  Irwin Chapel of Granite City in charge of arrangements.  www.irwinchapel.com
