Eric Archer

Eric Jon Archer, 75, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at his home on Saturday, November 11, 2023 with his family at his side.  He was born April 3, 1948, in Charlotte, Michigan, a son of the late Kenneth and Barbara (Meeder) Archer.  He married the love of his life, Sue Ann Marie “Sue” (Reaka) on August 3, 1968, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City and she survives.  Eric was a member of the Bricklayers Local #65 with 18 years of dedicated service at Granite City Steel until his medical retirement.  He enjoyed working in construction and helped to build many homes.  He also enjoyed woodworking, riding four wheelers and working on tractors with his friends.  He loved spending time at his cabin in Centerville, Missouri.  He was an avid fan of Harley Davidson and enjoyed his many rides.  He had a special talent of making electric guitars and cigar box guitars and was also a member of the N.R.A. and formerly with the F-Troop Motorcycle group.  In addition to his beloved wife of over 55 years, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cory and Philip Karius of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Paige Karius and Sydney Karius, both of St. Louis; four siblings, Kristin Nicholson, Keri Gae Archer, Kyle and Paula Archer and Kayla McAmish; brother-in-law, Terry Rollins, all of Granite City; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.  In celebration of his life, visitation will be on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023, with Terry Rollins officiating.  Burial will follow at the O’Fallon City Cemetery in O’Fallon, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association and may be accepted at the funeral chapel.  www.irwinchapel.com
