EDWARDSVILLE – The Edwardsville Fire Department received a 911 call of a structure fire in the 400 block of North Main Street just after 1:00 p.m. Thursday.
When firefighters arrived on the scene they had heavy fire on the roof of the old firehouse garage. The firehouse was torn down for new construction but the garage was left.
” Firefighters were able to arrive on the scene quickly and get the fire under control. Due to it being a commercial structure a commercial box alarm was requested”. Edwardsville Fire Chief James Whiteford said
Glen Carbon, Wood River, and Troy Fire Department responded. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation. Madison County Emergency Management also had its Rehab Unit.
Edwardsville Police Department blocked North Main Street off while firefighters worked.
