DUPO – Roxana girl’s basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Dupo Cat Classic Tournament on Saturday after beating Valmeyer Pirates 51-21.
In the first two quarters, it was a tight game with lots of defense. Valmeyer jumped out to a 9-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. It was neck and neck in the second quarter both teams went into the locker room tied 16-16.
After the break, it was all Roxana, In the third quarter they scored 26 points behind Kinsley Mouser. She scored 11 of the 26 points in the third quarter. They led 42-24 going into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Roxana outscored Valmeyer 9-7.
Roxana was led by Kinsley Mouser and Daisy Daugherty both had 11 points. Valmeyer was led by Brooke Miller with 16 points and Keirstin Miller with 8 points.
Roxana will play cross-town rivals EAWR Lady Oilers in the Championship game at 2:30.
