ALTON – Smiles and cheer filled Alton Target this morning as kids and cops participated in the annual Shop with a Cop.
The Alton School District picked 50 pre-selected kids who had the opportunity to shop with a cop. Each kid had 250.00 dollars to spend on whatever they wanted.
Most of the kids said they were looking for gifts for their siblings and parents and a gift for themselves. The toy section and electronics were the popular areas of the store. After the kids looked in that area, they headed to the clothes section.
The money raised for the event was from the annual golf tournament, OSF Saint Anthony’s, Sam’s Pawn Shop, Patches and Badges, Alton Township, and all the other individuals and businesses.
Alton Cheerleaders were stationed at the front of the store and after the kids checked out the cheerleaders were there to wrap the gifts.
” Target has been amazing hosting this every year. Whatever we need they help us to make this happen” Alton Sergent Elliott Ferguson said
Most of the officers participated on their day off to shop with the kids.
