ALTON – A local soon-to-be 12-year-old is asking for donations for Hope Animal Rescue. Instead of birthday gifts, Kolton is asking for pet supplies for the local shelter.
On Saturday Kolton will have an event called Fill the Bus between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at Farm and Home in Alton. This will be the 4th birthday Kolton has done this.
Four years ago family asked Kolton what he wanted for his birthday and he said he didn’t need anything then an idea came, he said he wanted to collect pet supplies for Hope Animal Shelter and donate everything to them.
So on Saturday in the parking lot of Alton Farm and Home a white bus will be there along with Kolton to fill the bus rain or shine. Here are some ideas of the type of donations he is looking for:
Treats and Bones, Puppy Pads, Dog Toys (small and large), steel dog bowls, dog beds, and for a complete list check out the flyer in the story.
He also will take Venmo donations and for all the donations received he will go into Farm and Home and shop for the animals and whatever money he gets from family will go to Hope Anmainal Recuse. The Venmo is @Barbara-Corby
About Hope Animal Rescue
On November 15th, 2005 a group of pets arrived in Alton Illinois; some of them were from the hurricane others from surrounding animal control facilities that use the gas chamber to euthanize to make room for the Hurricane Katrina dogs coming to them. Â We worked with those animals and after seeing the hope in their eyes and the spirit of their souls we took our first steps to the work we are doing today.Â
We are a true RESCUE.  We pull animals on their last day of life at animal control facilities and we work with Animal Welfare Agencies at the City and State level regarding the abused and neglected, so that they may find a true second chance within our adoption program. Â
Today we are a non-profit corporation and our mission is one of compassion for the homeless and rehabilitation for the physically and mentally abused
