BETHALTO – The Civic Memorial Eagles basketball team was lights out behind the arc tonight in the home opener. They combined for seven three-pointers to beat Gillespie 71-35.
CM came out hot in the first quarter and jumped out to a 28 to 5 lead. In the second quarter, they continued shooting hot and extended the lead to 46 to 11 going into the locker room.
In the third quarter, they pushed their lead to 62-18 to 24. In the final quarter, Gillespie outscored the Eagles 17-9.
The Eagles were led by Adam Ogden with 20 points and August Frankford with 12 points. Gillespie was led by Owen Pau with 8 points.
The Eagles are now 3-3 in the season and will play Triad Friday.
