Lloyd Osborn

Lloyd “Butch” Alvin Osborn, 79, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 10:31 p.m. Tues. Dec. 19, 2023 at his home with his family at his side.

He was born Jan. 28, 1944 in Chicago, IL to the late Delmar & Juanita (Knight) Osborn.

On Jan. 28, 1968 he and Evvie Dianna Asbury were married in Chester, IL.  She preceded him in death Dec. 27, 2021.

Butch was a U.S. Army veteran, serving on the Presidential Honor Guard for both President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King..  After serving in the military, he became a Sherriff’s Deputy and later started his own roofing company, Osborn’s Roofing and finally went to work for his friend Harry Anderson at Anderson Roofing.  Butch loved watching Jeopardy and talking politics and while he loved football, he hated the Dallas Cowboys.  He liked to also spend his time reading the likes of Stephen King and Louis Lamore but his favorite thing was to spend time with his family, doting on his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by 2 daughters: Christina (Dean) Sanders and Stacy (Shane) Wright of Granite City; a son: Brian (Michelle) Osborn of Bethalto, IL; 5 grandchildren: Kevin Osborn, Lauren (Joe) Kilzer, Sean Wright, Gavin Wright and Collin Sanders; a great-grandson: Matthew Osborn; and a brother: George Osborn of Vicksburg, MS.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Bill Osborn; and 2 sisters: Judy Osborn and Dorothy Edwards.

Butch will be laid to rest with his wife in a private ceremony at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
