Patsy C. Patterson, 80, of Granite City, Illinois went home to the Lord at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. She was born February 14, 1943, in Venice, Illinois, a daughter of the late Ralph and Eva (Drummond) Jacobs. She married the love of her life, Charles Lanzo Patterson on April 8, 1961, in Granite City and he survives.
In 1978, Pat and Lanzo started P&S Tire, now known as Patterson Tire where she worked as the bookkeeper for many years. Pat also devoted her time to her church family at Harvest Community Church. Pat was the Matriarch of our family and was a passionately devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and was the most loyal ally one could have.
Pat showed her support and devotion by attending all sporting events, activities, games and school activities. She was famous in her large family for her fried chicken, potato salad and extraordinary mac and cheese and loved gathering in her home with family and friends for any occasion. In addition to her loving husband of 62 years, she was a fiercely devoted mother to her four sons, Brian (Rebecca May) Patterson of Glen Carbon, Danny (Sherri) Patterson of Glen Carbon, Kevin (Tracy) Patterson of Edwardsville and Tim (Lynda) Patterson of Edwardsville; cherished grandmother to Kendall (Drew) Huffman, Jacob (Kasey) Patterson, Zack (Brittany) Patterson, Nick Patterson, Maddi (Austin) Abegg, Riley (Claire) Patterson, Spencer Patterson and Benjamin Patterson; great grandmother to Avery and Nash Huffman and Sophia and Ophelia Patterson. Pat was the fourth of seven loving and extremely close siblings and is survived by Jean Hampton of Granite City, Bill (Gail) Jacobs of Granite City, Charlie Jacobs of Granite City, Larry (Pat) Jacobs of Granite City and Mike (Sandy) Jacobs of Glen Carbon; many special nieces; nephews; other extended family and many friends. In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by her loving sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Rev. Jeff Smith; brother-in-law, Donnie Hampton and sister-in-law, Ginger Jacobs. There was nothing she loved more that spending time with her family and she LOVED BIG!!!
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at Harvest Community Church, 4598 State Route 162 in Pontoon Beach on Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Roy Boyer officiating.
