Structure Fire Breaks Out On New Year’s Day

ALTON – Alton Fire Department responded to the 3100 block of Hawthorne Blvd Monday afternoon for a structure fire.

When firefighters arrived on scene heavy smoke and fire were seen coming from the front of the house. Firefighters quickly got the fire under control.

Alton Fire Department requested a box alarm due to the fire. Godfrey responded with a truck and chief.

No injuries were reported. The 911 call said that someone had set the fire, but fire officials have not yet confirmed that.

The house appears to have significant damage.

The Illinois State Fire Marshal was called to investigate the fire.
