Kristie Lynn Mathis, 64, of Maryville and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2023, at Kindred Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born January 30, 1959, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Melvin and Thelma Roberta (Lane) Mathis. She enjoyed her years as a substance abuse counselor at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Peter’s, Missouri. She later did household cleaning and was the owner and operator of Sparkle Bright. Throughout her life, she was always helping others in so many ways and enjoyed feeding those around her. She had a green thumb with her many plants at her home and enjoyed music and dancing. Kristie was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and cherished the special times spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved significant other and best friend, Dave Agers of Maryville; a daughter and son-in-law, Carissa and Michael Dockery of Troy, Illinois; four grandchildren, Logan, Cayden, Aubree and Adalyn Dockery; twin brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Neola Mathis of Dover, Tennessee; sister and brother-in-law, Renee and John Obenhaus of Granite City; brother, Mark Mathis of Granite City; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and David Mathis.
In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until time of a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. with Reverend Eddy Bradley officiating.
