Dolores V. Henson, 98, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away at 8:26 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln, Illinois. She was born January 14, 1926, in Hanford, California, a daughter of the late Jens Peter and Minnie (Chase) Hansen. She married Albert H. Henson in December 1947 in Santa Rosa, California and he passed away in December 2005.
She retired from Famous-Barr Department Store after ten years of dedicated service as a manager and salesclerk. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville. Dolores was a talented seamstress and dressmaker, loved knitting and crocheting, known for her cooking skills and cherished raising many poodles throughout the years. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Terry Thomas of Springfield, Illinois; three nephews, Rudy, Bruce and Hal Jr.; four nieces, Teri, Barbara, Carole and Cheryl; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Henson; two sisters, Hazel Nelson and Jo-Ann White; a brother, Harold Hansen; a nephew, James Hoppes and two nieces, Virginia Maguire and Irene Kohler. In celebration of her life, a memorial gathering will be held at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
