ALTON – The Alton Fire Department responded to the 1900 block of Central Ave for a structure fire Wednesday afternoon.
When firefighters arrived on the scene they had smoke and fire coming out of the house. The two-story home was vacant at the time.

Firefighters quickly were able to get the fire under control. Alton Police Department closed Central Ave during the fire.
No injuries were reported and the Illinois State Fire Marshal was requested to investigate.
