Illinois State Police Arrests Three Belleville Men In Officer Involved Shooting

EAST ST. LOUIS – Following an extensive investigation into an officer-involved shooting, the Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Public Safety Enforcement Group (PSEG) arrested 29-year-old Davon E. McLorn of Belleville for Attempted First-Degree Murder (Class X Felony) and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm at a Peace Officer (Class X Felony), and 27-year-old Kasey T. Richardson of Belleville for Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Vehicle (Class 1 Felony) and Aggravated Fleeing (Class 4 Felony). 

In relation to the same incident, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department presented the case to the St. Louis City Circuit Attorney’s Office who issued charges for Robbery 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action against 26-year-old Abduelah C. Jones of Belleville.

On January 27, 2024 at approximately 8:00 p.m., the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department took a report of an armed vehicular hijacking near Locust Street and 6th Street in downtown St. Louis involving a blue Nissan Sentra.  At approximately 9:35 p.m., an ISP Trooper observed the stolen vehicle near 38th Street and State Street in East St. Louis.  The Trooper attempted a traffic stop on the Nissan, but it fled from the Trooper. During the pursuit, a passenger in the Nissan displayed a firearm and fired multiple rounds at the Trooper striking his squad car numerous times.  The Trooper was not injured.  The Nissan later crashed, and the three suspects fled on foot and were not apprehended. 

Following an extensive investigation by ISP Zone 6 PSEG, along with numerous other ISP units and United States Marshal’s Service, three suspects were identified and taken into custody.

On February 2, 2024, the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the above charges against McLorn and Richardson. The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office approved the above charge on Jones.  Jones and Richardson are currently in custody at the St. Clair County Jail and McLorn is in custody at the East St. Louis Jail.
