GRANITE CITY – A Granite City police officer was shot Tuesday night in the 2400 block of Delmar Ave.
Granite City officers rushed to the aid of the down officer, when they arrived one of the officers loaded the shot officer in his police car and transported the officer to Gateway Hospital which is not far from the scene.

Granite City Police Department requested help from other agencies. Officers from as far out as Belleville and St Clair County Sherriff Department were seen. There were officers from all across Madison and St Clair County who responded.
The officer is expected to be ok. The suspect is still at large.
