EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU – The Cape Girardeau Police Department chased a man wanted in connection with shooting a Granite City Police Officer came to an end Wednesday night just across the Emerson Memorial Bridge in East Cape Girardeau.
According to the Cape Girardeau Police Department, the suspect Donald J. Friese, who was charged after a Granite City police officer was shot late Tuesday night. He was on the run. The suspect’s vehicle was reportedly stuck in a field just across the bridge.
After he became stuck in the field shots were fired. Police confirm he is deceased after the shootout with police.
