Cheryl Carpenter

Cheryl Carpenter, 63, passed away at 10:08am on Friday, February 9, 2024, at her residence.  She was born on March 11, 1960, in Granite City, the daughter of Charles L. Meyer, Sr. of South Roxana and the late Judy (Welshan) Meyer.  She married Greg Carpenter on May 15, 1987, in Wood River, and he preceded her in death on February 24, 2021.  Survivors include three daughters and two sons in law: Stacy Geiger, Amy and Mike Noble, Sarah and Brian Cunningham, three sons and daughters in law: Clint and Christal Carpenter, Eric and Jodi Carpenter, Jason and Lisa Carpenter, fourteen grandchildren: Brandon, Lauren, Jacob, Logan, Emma, Caleb, Hannah, Taryn, Abbi, Brayden, Brianna, Makayla, Cody, Dilon, four great grandchildren: Sophia, Avalynn, Keeley, Willard, her sisters and brothers in law: Lou Ann and Jim McFarlane, Jennifer and Kenny Yates, Marsha and Scott Edwards, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Cheryl was more than just a grandma to her own grandkids, she was a grandma to every child she met.  She loved caring for others, but she loved collecting trinkets the most.  She never met an oil lamp she didn’t want to take home.  And don’t get us started on all the angel statues.  She loved deeply and will be missed tremendously by all who knew her.

In addition to her mom and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother: Charles “Charlie” Meyer, Jr.

In celebration of her life, private graveside services will be held at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Online guestbook available at www.pitchfordfuneralhome.com.
