Ramona Lynn Phillips, 65, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 9, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of the late Jerry and Myrtle (Knutsonhaydahl) Phillips.
Ramona was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where she served with honor and dedication. She had a passion for travel and adventure and enjoyed exploring the world on cruises and camping trips. She loved the sun and the sand, especially at her favorite beach in Destin, Florida. She also liked to have fun in Las Vegas, where she played the slots and watched the shows. She was a loyal friend and a card shark, who never missed a chance to play cards with “the girls”. She had an amazing sense of humor and a radiant smile that brightened every room she entered. She cherished every moment with her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. Ramona was a kind, generous, and compassionate person, who touched many lives, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gary Williams; her son, Sgt. Steven Mennemeyer, U.S. Army; and her brother, David Phillips.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sarah (Zachary) White, of Granite City, Illinois; her chosen daughter, Ginny Akins, of St. Robert, Missouri; her grandchildren, Andrew Mennemeyer, Conner White, Abby White, Elise White, Dylan Harsh, and Colin Akins; her siblings, Shirley Kay Wagner (Barry DeShazo) and Pamela Jill Collee (Doug Dickson); and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Friends and family may visit from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Rd., Granite City, Illinois and from 9 to 10 a.m., Thursday, February 15, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City, Illinois.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, February 15, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Granite City, Illinois with Father Alfred Tumwesigye officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edwardsville, Illinois.
