ILLINOIS – 14 area wrestlers avancanced to the IHSA State Wrestling Finals which will be held next weekend on the University of Illinois campus in Champaign. The top four places advanced in each class.
In Class 1A Roxana will send 5 wrestlers after haveing a good day in Vandalia Logan Riggs placed 4th in the 126lbs class. Brandon Green Jr placed 2nd in the 132 lbs class. Braden Johnson placed 2nd in the 150lbs class. In the 157lbs weight class Lyndon Thies placed 2nd, and James Herring placed 1st in the 285lbs class.
EAWR will send one Drake Champlin placed 3rd in the 215 class to get a chance to wrestle at state.
Civic Memorial had another great day in the Class 2A Mahomet Seymour Sectional. CM will have five wrestlers at the state. In 113 lbs Avery Jamie placed 3rd, Bradley Ruckman placed 2nd in the 120lbs class, Caleb Scott placed 2nd in the 126lbs class, and In the 144 weight class, Nathan Herrin placed 4th. The lone 1st place finisher was Bryce Griffin in the 157 weight class. and the final wrestler is James Wojcikiewicz placed 3rd at 165.
At the Class 3A Quincy Sectional Edwardsville will send 2 wrestlers to Champaign next weekend. Bryson Nuttall and Blake Mink. Nuttall placed fourth at 106lbs and Mink placed 3rd at 144lbs.
