Robert “Bob” Dale Kirksey Jr., 57, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri at 11:44 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024. He was born June 24, 1966, in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of Robert Dale Kirksey Sr. and Peggy Margaret (Browning) Wallace. Bob was the owner and operator of Jacobsmeyer’s Bar & Grill in Granite City with over 20 years of memories of good memories with the community. He loved giving to others in helping with many fundraisers and community services. He had also worked in his earlier years in construction, banking, selling steel piping and various others endeavors. He was a talented musician, playing the guitar and other instruments and enjoyed his years in the Flat Wheel Band. He was a 1984 graduate of Granite City High School and later attended Illinois State University. He found peace in being outdoors and loved his days of hunting and fishing. Bob had friends everywhere, cherished special times shared with his family and friends and had a love for animals. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a girlfriend, Bridgette Kittle; aunts and uncles, Robert and Sandra May, Tim and Tammy Kirksey, Sandy Kirksey, Kathy Weinkein, Donna Green and Nancy Portell; many cousins; other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Kathy Kirksey; stepfather, B.W. Wallace; sister, Milly Kirksey; grandparents, Oliver and Sallie Kirksey and Bob and Ruth Browning; aunt, Roberta Browning and two uncles, Tim Browning and Don Kirksey. In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 with Reverend Steve Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
