WEST ALTON – A standoff that started in West Alton at the Phillip 66 at around 7:45 a.m. Thursday has ended. The person who was involved in the standoff has been pronounced deceased. It is currently unknown who fired the shot.
Police shut down Lewis Bridge’s northbound lanes for some time and Clark Bridge’s southbound lane heading into Alton. The person who was the suspect in the standoff was a person of interest in a homicide in Foristell Mo earlier in the morning.
Police were called to the 1000 block of North Service Road In Foristell Mo around 3:15 a.m. after a 911 caller reported hearing gunfire. Responding officers found a woman dead inside a vehicle. The vehicle was parked in a fenced-in lot belonging to a trucking company.
