Duane G. Frey, age 82 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, MO.
He was born on Sunday, December 7, 1941, in Highland, IL, the son of Alvin and Sophia (nee Korte) Frey.
On Saturday, August 24, 1963, he married Carol E. Frey nee Wessel at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Pierron, Illinois, who passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022.
He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; Highland Knights of Columbus Council #1580 and CIU Carpenters Union.
Duane was born on the family farm south of Highland, He lived his entire life on the hill until moving into Highland in 2015 and his son took over the farm. He attended St. Paul School and then served with the United States Army with duty in Korea. Returning stateside, he worked as a carpenter for Barney Stoff, Ralph Korte Construction and then 35 years with Alberternst Construction before retiring in 2007. While working the construction trade, he also operated the family grain farm. He retired from farming in 1995. Duane enjoyed farming, playing cards, following his grandchildren activities with visits all over the United States, doing special projects for his children and grandchildren and watching the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals. Red tractors – reading about them, farming with them, maintaining them his whole life. He and his wife and enjoyed over 59 years of marriage.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 29, 2024, and from 8:00 AM to 9:45 AM on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 1, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL.
Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL.
